FalkTheNorseman An entertaining listen, with basically only one gripe. Maybe it's just because I've been listening to the Mistborn series narrarated by Michael Kramer, but I strongly feel that the voices could use more distinction between each other to more easily identify what character is speaking, as it can sometimes be difficult to know what character is speaking, as well as add more... well, character to each of them. Beyond that, a solid performance to a solid, competently written and entertaining story.

about

After one of his top agents vanishes on a mission to map the far side of the world, the imperial spymaster of Zhou sends two of the lost agent’s superiors after him. Expecting to find civilization across the ice-covered northern strait, they instead stumble onto an uncharted continent.

In the southern kingdom of Astraalis, a pair of sibling pirate hunters saves the life of a prodigal prince. Capitalizing on the grateful royal’s gift of a massive fortune, Ludovico and Maria retire from the seas. Not content to simply sit on their haunches, however, the ambitious twins set their sights on the highest rung of the Astraalin social ladder.

West of the Wall, the Nemean Lion leads his horde of barbarians in regular raids against the outlying villages. Brandt, a Zhounin regiment leader, valiantly spearheads an attack on the ruffians, only to find himself captured and press-ganged into the Lion’s legion.

Using their unique perspectives, among others, THE BARON OF THE BLOODWOODS explores themes of ideological conflict and unintended consequences against the backdrop of a rapidly-shrinking world. The climax of PART 1 hints at the underlying connections between the protagonists, who will inevitably cross paths in the future.
